What is this you ask? Well it appears to be a black background with some tape and...what is that little white stringy thing? Am I such a thrifty sewer that I hold on to even the tiniest threads of string? Is it a sliver of silk from the ancient chinese silk worm? Perhaps a piece of horse hair from the violin of a famous musician...no, but close!
This my friends is the firt gray hair plucked from the chin of my husband. It is significant, it is symbolic, and it will not go unnoticed!
First the significance:
It is the first of his gray hairs.
He plucked it, which means something like 7 will grow back in it's place
He is in fact mere months away from turning 30
Now the symbolisim:
It is a sign of wisdom more than age as 30 is not old...or at least I no longer think so. But wisdom abounds in him as he has grown increasingly more dependent on the Lord.
It is a sign of maturity, again not in the sense of age, but rather maturity that comes from having a wife and three children. Of running a household and dealing with stress. Maturity that comes from waiting on the Lord and rejoicing in times of drought.
To me this is a proud symbol. Proverbs 16:31 says "Gray hair is a crown of splendor, it is attained by a rightous life."
"This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." Romans 3:22-24
