Christmas party dress

I can't wait to post pictures of the Christmas dress I made from scratch. I found a dress I really liked but since it was $95 I decided I would attempt to make my own look alike. For now here is my inspiration.

Please note the final dress did not turn out looking like this, but I love the 50's inspired look I ended up with instead.

This is the Christine dress from Modcloth, which is no longer in stock...sadly. Maybe that last size L will be under my tree come Christmas morning. (A girl can dream)

Anywho, look for my reveal some time in the next couple of days.

Maturing

I used to think some day I wanted to be a grandmother of dozens of sweet little children. I would babysit ALL the time. I would cook big meals and have all the kids over and be the center saint along side my husband. I would be respected (of course) loved, adored, stern, but ever the spoiler.

Maybe it's just my current season...but right now what I look forward to is those days when Mr. Incredible and I go to breakfast by ourselves. When my hair is graying and his is all gone, but we're still hopelessly devoted to each other. When we can really get to know each other and pursue random interests or maybe just stay in bed all day.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want to wish away my children, but, for right now at least, I wouldn't mind if they choose to live in on the other side of the country when they grow up:o)

Chubby Baby Car Seat Cover GUEST GIVEAWAY!!!!

If you know me at all, you know my youngest son rides in a pink carseat. As much as it used to make me wince and get him out quickly before anyone saw now I'm used to it. However, if I were to win one of these I would be very happy!

Blogsition time?

I have been thinking for quite some time about transitioning my blog to more of a hobby blog instead of a family album type thing. Here's the thing...

If I transition my blog in to a hobby blog, mainly sewing, then I feel as though there is more pressure to come up with fun and entertaining things to post. I would also love to host some giveaways and tutorials, but I hear there are new rules in the blog world about all that.

I know that currently I may only have a very limited number of readers. Mostly family and friends, so that means that a change would also mean a whole new readership that will come from ??? Well I don't know if they'll come at all. Which also means I'd have to put a lot more time in to the blog in order to make it something random people interested in sewing would want to take time to read.

I love blogs like Grosgrain where she has almost weekly giveaways and is super creative. She makes many of the things she gives away and occasionally has a tutorial.

Then there is ModKid blog of fabric and pattern designer, Patty Young. She of course is fabulously creative and her posts always entail her adventures as a designer. And who doesn't want to see what it takes to create your own line of fabric and patterns?

Gertie's Blog for Better Sewing is another one of my favorites. She is working through a book of vintage Vogue patterns and always has great tips. She is very witty and super gorgeous! It is so much fun to see her creations!

So if I were to aspire to have a sewing blog I would want it to be a combination of the three of these. I know these women put a lot of time and thought in to their posts. They have great pictures, and well thought out writings.

This is really me just thinking out loud here, but perhaps I will begin to transition. Maybe not....

Until then!
