Happy Birthday Little Man!

Happy Birthday Nator!I love that you are so completely unique and different from your brother and sister. I love that you have "red" (orange) hair. I love that you have good manners and that you some times call me mom just because your siblings do. I love that you still want to cuddle with me and that your puppy footy jamies are your favorite. I love the little man you have become and I look forward to the next _____ years.

Love,
Mommy

Birthday Boy

Happy Birthday Moosekat! It has been an incredible 8 years. You are super smart. I love the way you tell me what you saw on the "advertisement" or how you ask a million questions until you get right down to the source. Ok so maybe I don't love the million questions, but I love that they're what make you you. I love that you are my oldest. I love that you are kind and gentle with your siblings. I love that you're sensitive and easily forgive. I love that you're cool with "whatever" even when it means the plans have changed. I love that you're handsome and still cool with wearing a yellow shirt with the #8 on it.

I love you little man!

Seasons change

I made the decision to put my oldest son in a private school today. This is a MAJOR season change for me. Aside from day care my son has never attended a formal education school. I have been his teacher in pre-k, kindergarten, 1st, and half of 2nd grade...and I have the binders stuffed to prove it.

This was a completely appropriate decision for our family. Moosekat is a highly social kid and he was showing great signs of needing a different learning environment.

I'm not really scared to let him go. I know he'll be alright. The thoughts of "no one understands my kid like me", and "he's a talker" give me pause, but I still know this is right.

He's excited and I am too. A lot of things will change though.

I'll have two little ones at home that will really be getting to know each other. I will probably start concentrating on teaching Boo boo princess all the things her older brother had mastered by her age.

Though my Nator does not need anymore attention than he already gets...he'll be the man of the house during the day.

My day will be on a 8-3 schedule and there will be fewer late nights out for us.

So...seasons are changing again. Just wish it wasn't so cold around here...this isn't normal!

Pattern test

I did some pattern testing for Patty Young of Modkid Boutique. These are the outfits I made. This pattern is now available for pre-sale to retailers and will be out soon. Make sure to pick one up. It was super fun to make! Boo boo princess doesn't yet own an American doll (this one was borrowed) but I think she soon will and it will have a wardrobe full of custom made clothes!

Christmas party dress

I can't wait to post pictures of the Christmas dress I made from scratch. I found a dress I really liked but since it was $95 I decided I would attempt to make my own look alike. For now here is my inspiration.

Please note the final dress did not turn out looking like this, but I love the 50's inspired look I ended up with instead.

This is the Christine dress from Modcloth, which is no longer in stock...sadly. Maybe that last size L will be under my tree come Christmas morning. (A girl can dream)

Anywho, look for my reveal some time in the next couple of days.

Maturing

I used to think some day I wanted to be a grandmother of dozens of sweet little children. I would babysit ALL the time. I would cook big meals and have all the kids over and be the center saint along side my husband. I would be respected (of course) loved, adored, stern, but ever the spoiler.

Maybe it's just my current season...but right now what I look forward to is those days when Mr. Incredible and I go to breakfast by ourselves. When my hair is graying and his is all gone, but we're still hopelessly devoted to each other. When we can really get to know each other and pursue random interests or maybe just stay in bed all day.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want to wish away my children, but, for right now at least, I wouldn't mind if they choose to live in on the other side of the country when they grow up:o)
